Air Purifying Houseplants

Plants can make great air purifiers,ย Adding potted plants to a room has been shown to reduce the amount of air particulates making it a much healthier place to be in.

How?

Plants take in carbon dioxide from the air and at the same time absorb some of the particulates from the air , this is then processed into oxygen through photosynthesis. ย Microsย associated with the air purifying plants can also be found in the soil and helps in the air purification.

Not only are plants good for this they also make people feel happier

Here are 5 great air purifying plants available in storeย

Boston Fern

Boston fern features feather-like leaves and curved fronds that are well suited to indoor hanging baskets. It’s considered one of the most efficient air purifiers, but it can prove a bit difficult to maintain because of its need for constant moisture and humidity

This fern works especially well in removing formaldehyde, which is found in some glues, as well as pressed wood products, including cabinetry, plywood paneling, and furniture

Bamboo Palm

Youโ€™ll want to have a Bamboo Palm in your home if you live in a climate with harsh winters. It will help to restore some of the moisture that tends to dry up thanks to indoor heating units. Theyโ€™re also good at removing formaldehyde, which could be making you sick.

Chinese Evergreen

One way to get rid of benzene and formaldehyde in your home is to purchase a Chinese Evergreen plant. They are thought to bring good luck and were used as decoration in Asian countries long before they made it west.

The longer you keep your Chinese Evergreen in your home, the better it will do at removing indoor toxins. Thatโ€™s incentive enough to keep this plant as long as possible, and when theyโ€™re this easy to care for itโ€™s not too hard to do.

Easy to grow, these plants will flower for much of the summer. Just be aware that those flowers (like all flowers) do contribute some pollen and floral scents to the air, so you may want to avoid having a room full of them. Put peace lilies in a shady spot and keep the soil moist without over watering.
